Depending on the number of entrants, there may also be an additional Ladies Final for the top six racers as well.

About the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance
Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was established in 2003 and exists to provide a HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) to the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and the Milton Keynes area. Our service does not simply transport patients to the nearest hospital. Our service routinely carries senior Doctors and Consultants to the scene of incidents in just minutes, providing lifesaving treatment and medication at the scene and en-route to hospital. Our Air Ambulance takes the hospital to the patient, providing the best possible chance of a full recovery.
Fact File
WNAA is one of very few services outside London to routinely carry a Doctor on board. Our primary response area is the 2000 square miles of Coventry, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes and some of the key border areas like Market Harborough, Banbury and Solihull. We also help out our neighbors under a mutual aid agreement in Birmingham, the West Midlands, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Leicestershire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.
The service has 15 Doctors, 15 Paramedics & 6 Pilots who service a population of around 1.2 million people. Based at Coventry Airport, in the five years it has been operating, it has flown over 7000 missions. With an ever-increasing callout rate of between 120 and 150 per month, WNAA is the busiest air ambulance in the UK.
No Government or National Lottery Funding!
WNAA is a registered charity and relies totally on public donations, fund-raising activities and sponsorship. The average cost per mission is around £1400 and the annual basic running cost of the service is over £1.7 million. Currently only able to operate in daylight hours due to the restrictive leasing costs of flying at night, WNAA aims to become the first service in the UK to operate 24 hours per day.
It is your local air ambulance, please support it.
Report from our Event on Friday 22nd June (£2000 + Raised from the evening)
After months of planning, the yearly
Charity Grand Prix event at Mr Karting in aid of the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, took place on Friday 22nd June. With a fantastic 57 drivers signed on to race, along with 45 raffle prizes and 14 Auction Items up for grabs, it was all set for a great evenings entertainment.
One of the unique features of previous charity events, and was the same with this years, is the variety of drivers competing to have some fun and raise some money for a very worthy cause. We had some drivers taking part in their first ever race event right through to experienced karters who race on a national basis. We also had no less than 9 drivers who had placed in the top three of our Junior Open GP Championships final standings, from previous years.
Due to the number of drivers competing, the drivers were given an option of doing our standard Grand Prix format, or doing 4 x 10 laps races instead, and the latter format was decided to be used, which meant we would be running 38 heats to decide the top drivers to compete for the glory of the podium.
With the racing getting underway after a series of practice laps for every driver to familiarise themselves with the karts and track, the racing got underway with some competitive racing throughout the heats, although there was the odd occasion where the competitive spirit took over and the drivers were subsequently penalised with a point deduction.
After the heats of the evenings racing were completed, we ran two finals with six drivers in each to finish the driving element of the evening’s event. The first final to run was the ‘Pro’ Final, where the top six drivers who where either current Junior Open GP drivers, Ex Junior GP Champions and Outdoor karters (TKM, Rotax etc). The second final (B final) was for the first six drivers who do not race outdoors and who have not raced in the Junior Open GP this season.

After the racing had finished, we carried out the presentation for the trophy winners including a special award for the ‘Worst driver of the evening’, which was suggested to be given to Vivek Chawda by his kind work colleagues! After this we carried out the auction for the items that were available to 'buy' and the lucky winners from our 45 prize raffl
e collection, claimed their prize.
We will be totaling the final amount over the next few days, and we will announce the amount of money raised as soon as possible.
We would finally like to thank everyone who has assisted us in making this years event a great success, including all the generous people who have donated items for the Raffle/Auction, everyone who sold raffle tickets (especially Harvey Smith who sold over £100 worth of tickets by himself), all the staff, their friends and family members who assisted us, and finally all the drivers who took part in the event in the event.
Thank you,
